SonarQube say "Component Name can't be empty" when creating a new project

Hi,

We recently set up our SonarQube Server (v9.9.6) (Developer edition), configured with license key, and integrated it with our GitHub organisation and SSO. All seem functional.

When we now try to configure projects, after importing all repositories, we get an error message after selecting repository and clicking “Setup selected repository” - “Component name can’t be empty.”

It turns out that we managed to create one project. But the subsequent projects fails. We’ve tried to find visible configuration differences, but see none.

I managed to find perhaps one conversation on a similar topic (reporting the same error) here or elsewhere on web, but it was not helpful (not ending up resolving the issue.)

Any idea/advice?

Hey @rolvseehuus

So I gather from your post you’ve reached some point that looks like this?

Have some projects (for you 1, for me 2) been imported, and are the rest still available to import?

In any case, I have to tell you that even though you recently set up your SonarQube Server, it’s already time to upgrade to SonarQube Server 2025.1 LTA! Your upgrade path is:

9.9.6 → 2025.1

I really recommend upgrading and seeing if the issue persists.
