Hi all,

SonarSource is proud to announce the release of 8.0, which includes 🥁…
The first pieces of GitLab integration! 🎉

More details in the [official announcement](https://www.sonarqube.org/sonarqube-8-0/). In addition, there are a few other fun features you might want to be aware of:

- _BETA_ Docker images for Developer Edition, Enterprise Edition, and Scanner CLI. Hopefully a subsequent release will bring support.
- The embedded analyzer documentation is now automatically updated when you update an analyzer!
- Projects are now provisioned on first analysis regardless of the presence or value of `sonar.branch.name` ([SONAR-11155](https://jira.sonarsource.com/browse/SONAR-11155))
- We’ve added the ability to back up and restore custom rules created from templates ([SONAR-5366](https://jira.sonarsource.com/browse/SONAR-5366))

You’ll find more details in the [upgrade notes](https://docs.sonarqube.org/latest/setup/upgrade-notes/) and full details in the [release notes](https://sonarsource.atlassian.net/issues/?jql=project%20%3D%2010139%20AND%20fixVersion%20%3D%2012590%20ORDER%20BY%20priority%20DESC%2C%20key%20ASC). Please open new threads for any questions you have about these or other features.

As usual, [download is available at sonarqube.org](http://sonarqube.org/downloads/).

Hi Ann,

congratulations and thanks especially for

This should be backported to current LTS for convenience.
With the current LTS you need to implement a workaround via Sonarqube web api to be able
to create generic build pipelines including a Sonarqube code analysis using the branching feature.

Hi Stephane,

We validated on community edition on cloud and on-prem, so this should work.

Hi Ann,

Does this integration fail the gitlab pipeline if the quality gate is failed as the community gitlab plugin would have done? I’ve upgraded our instance an dthis doesnt seem to be happening.

That’s coming in 8.1 ([MMF-1791](https://jira.sonarsource.com/browse/MMF-1791)).

Great news!

Is adding this integration in SonarCloud on the roadmap as well?
We’d really like to get rid of self-hosted instance and move to cloud and GitLab integration is the missing puzzle.
