I merged a fix to the master branch of SonarQube. It will be part of the 10.8 release (planned in November).

Right away, I never restarted the server.
The workaround seems to have worked for me but I also had to reapply the quality profiles in each project in order for sonarlint to work in connected mode. otherwise the logs indicted that there were 0 active rules for each profile. Also, im not using any cutom rules or profiles, all built in. thanks!
