Rules Improvements for PL/SQL

Hi PL/SQL Developers,

We’ve improved our PL/SQL rules and parsing so that we continue to return relevant results to you during analysis. This includes:

  • Fix false positive when “PRAGMA UDF” compiler directive misidentified as an unused variable
  • Fix false positive on Unicode format characters in literals
  • Don’t highlight keywords when they are used as identifiers
  • Support RETURNING clauses in DML statements

The improvements are available now in SonarQube Cloud and coming in SonarQube server 2026.5. Let use know if there are any rules that you’d like us to add next!
