Roadmap for TypeScript 6 / 7 support in SonarQube Cloud (docs currently state "up to 5.9.3")

We’re using SonarQube Cloud to analyze our TypeScript projects and are currently planning our TypeScript upgrade path.

The JavaScript/TypeScript/CSS docs state that TypeScript is supported “up to 5.9.3”. Since the analyzer embeds its own TypeScript compiler for type-aware analysis, we’d like to know what to expect before we upgrade.

Could you share:

  1. Whether TypeScript 6 / 7 support is on the roadmap, and any rough timeline?
  2. What happens if we upgrade before it’s supported — will analysis fail, or just produce less accurate results?

Also, a small inconsistency: the Supported versions section says “up to 5.9.3”, but the Supported frameworks and versions section further down the same page lists “TypeScript 5.0”. Which one is correct?

Thanks!

Hey @chloe-11, support for TypeScript 7 is in our roadmap indeed, and from what I can see it’s planned for Q3, so hopefully it won’t be too long! In the meantime, if you analyze code that uses Typescript 6 or 7 features, there is the possibility that our parser will crash or that our analysis logic won’t spot certain issues. I can’t share exactly what will or will not work, unfortunately, you will just have to find out for yourself :grimacing:

Regarding the inconsistency, that’s a nice catch, I will let our documentation team know, thanks!
