Pull Request Analysis shows issues for files not touched in the PR

Template for a good new topic, formatted with Markdown:

  • ALM used GitHub
  • CI system used Heroku
  • Private repo
  • Using the Github action which is uses on: push.
  • The PR decoration is showing issues on files which were not touched by the developer or part of the PR. This happens quite often and is kind of using up developer time.

Hi @sangram,

Are you sure that those file were not moved ? Are those issues present on the target branch of the PR ?

Hi @mickaelcaro,

Yeah… The files were not moved or touched as part of the PR. I checked the branch and the issues on SonarCloud dashboard by selecting the branch from the dropdown… The issues showed for these branch has files which are not showed as changed on Github PR.
SonarCloud shows issues on 13 files whereas Github PR shows 5 files changed.

Hello @sangram,

Does the analysis on SonarCloud show that it is a pull request? Do you see something comparable to the following image when opening the analysis on SonarCloud?

If so, are the base branch and PR branch correct?

Hi @TomVanBraband,

It does show as a pull request and I do see a comparable image. The branches are correct…

That’s interesting. Could you share the output of the GH action? If it contains any sensitive information you can redact it or share it though a private message.

Did you set the fetch-depth to 0 in your GH action? See https://github.com/SonarSource/sonarcloud-github-action.
