Posting limitation for new users in existing topics

I recently ran into the posting limitation for new users (maximum of three replies per topic), and I wanted to share some feedback on that experience.

I’ve been following an existing topic related to an issue we’re currently facing with SonarQube Azure DevOps tasks, and I was able to contribute a few responses that seemed to help move the discussion forward. However, when I tried to reply to last week to continue the discussion, I was blocked by that posting limit. And it seems I still can’t add to that topic.

I understand that this is a community forum and not official product support, and that such restrictions are likely in place to prevent spam or abuse. That said, when you’re actively working through a real issue—like in our case with the SonarQube Azure DevOps tasks—it’s frustrating to no longer be able to participate in the ongoing conversation where the context already exists.

I also noticed that, as a new user, I’m currently unable to tag/mention other users. Combined with the posting limit, this makes it even harder to engage effectively in an active discussion and collaborate with others involved.

At the moment, the only workaround would be opening a new topic, which fragments the discussion and makes it harder for others to follow or contribute effectively.

It would be great if there were a way to relax these limitations in active or relevant discussions (for example, based on engagement, account age, or moderator discretion), so that meaningful contributions aren’t unintentionally discouraged.

Thanks for considering this…

And of course, as soon as I posted this my trust level was upped and I was able to reply, LOL…

Hi,

You make fair points. I’ve downgraded the Trust Level 1 requirements slightly. Thanks for your participation!
