# Plugins not compatible with new version of SonarQube

Hi, I want to upgrade my SonarQube. I open link [https://docs.sonarqube.org/latest/instance-administration/plugin-version-matrix/](https://docs.sonarqube.org/latest/instance-administration/plugin-version-matrix/) and see that a lot of plugin not compatible with SonarQube 8.5 and 8.6. Why is that? When plugin will compatible with new version of SonarQube?

Hi @fink-artem,

Since SonarQube 8.5, we’ve moved the core plugins that SonarSource provides to a different location, but any 3rd party plugin will remain in **$SONARQUBE\_HOME/extensions/plugins** folder. See [here](https://community.sonarsource.com/t/sonarqube-v8-5-and-beyond-where-did-all-the-plugins-go/32792/) for more info. The Plugin Version Matrix is a bit confusing, apologies for that.
