Node required for pure C# solution?

  • Operating system: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
  • Visual Studio version: 17.9.6
  • SonarLint plugin version: 7.8.0.88494
  • Programming language you’re coding in: C# only.
  • Is connected mode used: No? This is a local install.

I find it surprising to be requested to install node despite my solution being pure C#

Hey @mrudat

Node is only required to analyze JavaScript, TypeScript and CSS.

In general, we do not start the Node process if we have not detected a file with any of those languages. If it happens in a pure C# project, we would kindly ask you to provide a code sample to reproduce the problem.

If you are not interested in analyzing JavaScript, TypeScript or CSS, you can safely dismiss the notification and ignore any messages in the logs. Analysis of other languages does not depend on Node.
