Move from Bitbucket Cloud to GitHub Enterprise when Bitbucket workspace has been deleted

We’ve migrated our ALM from Bitbucket Cloud to GitHub Enterprise. I wanted to change the DevOps platform, but that seems to be impossible.

Starting with Pricing of SonarQube Cloud when migrating from one DevOps platform to another I’ve had contact with Sonar Sales. I’ve got this answer:

To unbind Bitbucket and bind to GitHub, see this guide: https://docs.sonarsource.com/sonarqube-cloud/administering-sonarcloud/creating-organization/changing-organization-binding

Firstly, I tried that. As a Bitbucket Cloud workspace administrator I did not see a SonarCloud app anywhere in the settings. I am thinking that this integration was done some versions back in some other way? I didn’t see any configuration regarding this integration.

I then removed the Bitbucket Cloud workspace, thinking that would force a removal of the binding. Alas, that turned out not to be true. I still see the message “This project is bound to bitbucket” in my SonarQube projects.

What can I do now? Can this be fixed?

Hey there.

What do you see when you go to your organization-level Administration > Organization Settings > Organization binding while logged in as a GitHub user (who has been granted org admin permissions)? You should be able to initiate a binding with GitHub, and then refresh your project bindings.

Hi Colin,

Thank you for your answer.

I am an admin in our SonarQube organization. I am not an admin in our GitHub Enterprise organizaton. I can get an admin to login using GitHub SSO. But will this work? He will not be able to see our SonarQube organization. I take it you cannot just link any available SonarQube organization to any DevOps platform.

Does this mean I need to get my permissions elevated in the GitHub Enterprise organization? Or give someone GitHub org admin admin permissions in the SonarQube organization as well?

At this point, you would add this admin to be a admin of your SonarQube Cloud organization, who could then perform the binding.

This question can be closed. I didn’t solve it. My company is moving in a different direction.
