### Environment

- SonarQube Server or Cloud? SonarQube Community Server
- Deployment type (STDIO/HTTP, Docker/JAR): Helm
- Client / AI tool using MCP (if applicable): Soon™

### Description

1. Is there any kind of “Compatibility table” between SonarQube version and SonarQube MCP version? Something like:

- “SonarQube MCP **v1.22** is compatible with SonarQube **26.9** or above”.
- “SonarQube MCP **v1.22** is compatible with SonarQube **26.9** only”.

1. Is it also backward compatible (expected to work) with earlier versions (at least from the same year)?

I noticed that MCP Server has a “matching version” (eg. 2026.5.0) for Developer, Enterprise and DC, but what about Community Edition?

Hey @gian1200, our [documented requirement](https://docs.sonarsource.com/sonarqube-mcp-server/setup/prerequisites) is to have at least SonarQube Community Build 25.1. This means that, as of today, the latest MCP server version is backwards compatible (up to SonarQube Community Build 25.1). We can’t guarantee that it will always be this way though. If if ever stops being backwards compatible, perhaps then we could consider a complete compatibility table.
