Lost access to organization after converting personal GitHub account

Hello SonarCloud Team,

I’m seeking help to regain access to my organization after a GitHub account conversion.

  • ALM used: GitHub

  • CI system used: GitHub Actions (Note: This is an account access issue, not a CI/CD pipeline issue).

  • Error observed:
    When I log into SonarCloud with my new personal GitHub account (codedesignplus-wliscano), I am treated as a new user. I cannot see or manage my existing SonarCloud organization (codedesignplus), which was previously linked to my old personal account that no longer exists in its original form.

  • Steps to reproduce:

    1. My original personal GitHub account was named CodeDesignPlus.

    2. This CodeDesignPlus user account was used to create and manage the SonarCloud organization.

    3. I converted the CodeDesignPlus personal GitHub account into a GitHub Organization.

    4. My new personal GitHub account is now codedesignplus-wliscano. This new user is an owner of the CodeDesignPlus GitHub organization.

    5. As a result, when I log into SonarCloud with codedesignplus-wliscano, my access to the SonarCloud organization is lost.

  • SonarCloud Organization URL:

My goal is to have the ownership of the SonarCloud organization codedesignplus transferred from my old (now non-existent) user ID to my new personal GitHub account, codedesignplus-wliscano.

Hi @codedesignplus-wlisc

Do you still have access to your old account? If you use that to log into SonarQube Cloud, you will have access to that organization again and give admin rights to your new account.

If not, you should send an email to contact@sonarcloud.io mentioning the previous organization key, and the account that use to have access to the organization on SQC. They will be able to verify your identity and give you administrator access to the old organization

Thank you for the information. I wanted to let you know that I managed to delete the organization using an admin PAT I had, through the SonarCloud APIs. Once I deleted it, I proceeded to create it in my new account.
