I will look into that and come back to you. I think I already found the root cause, but I have to check that. We filter out metadata folders from various version control systems but instead of checking for .git/ we check for .git in the absolute path of resources
Let me confirm this and if my assumption is correct, I will implement a fix for that.

I still get the same popup when I start Eclipse, but at least everything else works also on my projects containing “.github” in the name!
OK, but I can anticipate that I’ve been getting that popup error for several weeks and “open console” never showed anything… I’ll investigate further.

no, we release roughly every two weeks. The upcoming release fixing the issue is scheduled for later today and should then be available or early tomorrow morning!
We just released 11.4.0.82756 containing the fixes. There was an issue with the Eclipse Marketplace Client (on the side of the Eclipse Foundation, not us) so the update might not be shown to you yet. It will come, I promise, pinky swear
