I looked in our internal logs and I can see that SonarScanner was failing to get quality profiles during the automatic analysis of your project. The failure was due to 500 responses returned from /api/qualityprofiles/search starting at 2026-08-06T10:49:53.000Z and ending at 2026-08-07T07:41:57.000Z. Since then, /api/qualityprofiles/search has returned 200 responses, so this is most likely a transient issue with the API; you should now be able to scan the project – if not, let me know.

I’ve flagged this post for our engineering team so that they can investigate the 500 responses further.

Quality profile is not loading for any projects in my org account

Issue Description:

We are attempting to onboard our repository (saltydata-org-a1) to SonarQube Cloud, but both Automatic Analysis (Autoscan) and GitHub Actions CI analysis fail consistently.

1. Automatic Analysis (Autoscan) Failure:

When Automatic Analysis is enabled, SonarQube Cloud fails with:

“The last attempt wasn’t successful because this project didn’t meet the compatibility criteria.”

2. GitHub Actions Scanner CLI Failure:

When switching to GitHub Actions (SonarSource/sonarqube-scan-action@v6), the scanner crashes with exit code 3 during Quality Profile fetching due to a 500 Internal Server Error response from SonarCloud:

Environment:

  • Azure DevOps Pipelines (Microsoft-hosted Windows agent)
  • SonarCloud Azure DevOps extension — SonarCloudPrepare@3, task version 4.2.5
  • SonarScanner for .NET 11.2.1 (.NET Framework variant, classic sonar-scanner-msbuild)
  • Server version reported: 8.0.0.101232
  • scannerMode: dotnet

What happens:

The Prepare step starts normally, downloads the scanner engine successfully, fetches project settings and the language list without issue, and successfully finds the quality profile via:

GET /api/qualityprofiles/search?project=<project>&organization=<org>

Immediately after that succeeds, the process throws an unhandled exception rather than a normal task failure:

The task then exits with code 3762504530 (unsigned 0xE0434352, the standard Windows code for an unhandled CLR exception), rather than a clean scanner error.

Notable log line before the crash:

Downloading from https://api.sonarcloud.io/analysis/version failed. Http status code is Forbidden.

This 403 on analysis/version appears earlier and the scanner seems to recover from it (falls back to sonarcloud.io/api/server/version), but I’m not sure if it’s related to the later 500.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone seen DownloadQualityProfile return a 500 right after a successful qualityprofiles/search call? This looks like it’s failing on the next call the scanner makes to fetch the profile’s rules/export.
  2. Is the earlier 403 Forbidden on analysis/version expected/benign for SonarCloud, or a sign of a token/permission issue that later manifests as the 500?
  3. Any known issues with scanner 11.2.1 / task 4.2.5 against the current SonarCloud backend (8.0.0.101232)?

Retrying the pipeline run did not resolve it. No recent changes to the project key, organization, or pipeline YAML.

We’ve identified an issue affecting a subset of projects that can cause CI analysis to fail when retrieving the project’s quality profile. The impact is limited: most customers and projects are not affected.

No data has been lost or compromised. Analyses for affected projects will resume successfully once the underlying issue has been resolved.

Our team is actively working on a fix and will share another update as soon as it has been deployed.

We have completed remediation for the primary issue affecting Quality Profiles. The impacted configuration data has been restored, and affected functionality is operating normally.

We are continuing to investigate a separate, pre-existing source of intermittent errors. This work is not expected to affect the remediation above. We will provide another update as soon as we have more information.
