Bitbucket Cloud app: Forge migration plan before Connect EOS (Dec 2026)?

Hi Sonar team,

The SonarQube Cloud app for Bitbucket Cloud is currently an Atlassian Connect app (Marketplace 1219262, v1.2.4-AC). Atlassian has announced Connect end-of-support for December 2026 (no new installs since Feb 2026).

We rely on this app for ~500 repositories (PR decoration + the repository overview widget), so we need to plan ahead. Could you share your roadmap?

  1. Is a Forge version of the Bitbucket Cloud app planned, and when? Will existing installs migrate automatically, or is a re-install/re-auth required per workspace?

  2. Continuity of features: will PR decoration and the repository overview widget keep working through and after the transition? Any expected downtime or behavior change?

  3. The widget state (properties/sonarcloud/disabled): today it is a Bitbucket Connect app property. After migrating to Forge (entity storage / different mechanism), will the app still be able to write it, or only read it? This matters a lot for teams onboarding at scale (see our related request about an API for enabling the widget).

  4. Any action required on our side before Dec 2026 to avoid losing the integration?

Thanks — we’d rather prepare now than be surprised in Q4.

Hi @Gelver_Castro

Yes, we’re actively working on rewriting the BitBucket Cloud integration on the Forge framework.

Our plan is to release & send communication to customers by the end of Q3, so customers can do the updates during Q4.

We will publish a new version of the same app, and you will need to update the app to migrate. Atlassian does not allow us to update apps (required to migrate) automatically.

Based on our current tests, you will only need to update the app and there will be no downtime.

I will need to get back to you on this.

You will need to update the application.

Please note that Connect will still work after the December End Of Life (it will not be a hard stop from their side; however, there is very strong recommendation to migrate because Connect won’t be supported anymore).

Hi Sonar team,

Planning question about the future of the Bitbucket Cloud integration.

Atlassian is retiring the Connect platform (end-of-support December 2026; no new installs since February 2026). The current SonarQube Cloud app for Bitbucket Cloud is a Connect app (Marketplace 1219262). We depend on it across a large workspace and want to prepare rather than be caught off guard in Q4.

Could you share the roadmap?

  • Is a Forge-based version planned, and on what timeline?
  • Will existing installs migrate automatically, or will each workspace need to re-install / re-authorize?
  • Do you expect any downtime or behavior change for pull request decoration during the transition?
  • Is any action required on the customer side before December 2026 to keep the integration alive?

We also opened a separate request about programmatically enabling the repository overview widget; the migration may affect whether that becomes possible, so the two are related.

Thank you.
