AD group mapping implementation without plugin

I have read in the documentation that from version 8 onwards the active directory integration capabilities are natively implemented, so no more need for the LDAP plugin.
This means if I have version 7.9 LTS I have to install the LDAP plugin in order to have group mapping.
If I configure the group mapping with AD on version 7.9, what would be the implementation cost of doing it again after I install a version above 8 ?

Hi,

Excellent question!

In fact, what we’ve done is just embed the plugin functionality. Implement in 7.9 and it should be seamless to upgrade to 8.* and beyond.
